Ho amato molto Brother where art thou, tra i film più belli della ditta Cohen & Cohen. Una delle scene a mio avviso più azzeccate, indimenticabile per suggestione e per come arriva così all’improvviso, cambiando (ma per poco) il ritmo del film, è quella del battesimo collettivo nel fiume cui, alla fine, partecipano anche i protagonisti.

Alison Krauss

La musica che accompagna la scena è un brano tradizionale dei monti Appalachi (chi fosse interessato alla sua storia può cliccare su questo link) interpretato da Alison Krauss  assieme a un coro. La melodia è semplice ma intensa, le armonizzazioni anch’esse non particolarmente complicate ma danno un gran “corpo” all’esecuzione, la voce di Alison Krauss, tra l’altro valente violinista, è perfetta per il pezzo.

Aggiungo tre link. Uno con un video della scena del film. L’altro con un’esibizione in concerto della stessa Krauss (e coro). Il terzo con la bella e scintillante versione (imperdibile per gli amanti del canto “a cappella”) dei King’s Singers.
